Northleach House Area

The house area is for the younger/new intake in the school. There are 7 boys ages from 10/11/12. The area concentrates on the social skills mostly i.e.: hygiene, social interaction, how to behave towards each other on the area. They are taught to respect/support each other.

They do literacy on a Monday and at the moment they are concentrating on their handwriting skills. Monday evening is also socials skills i.e. hovering their bedrooms – changing beds – unpacking their clothes for the week – cleaning their shoes and also an earlier bedtime as they do come into school on a Monday very tired.

On Tuesday they complete their memory books (these are photographs which would have been taken by staff when they were either on school based activities or when offsite Tuesday/Wednesday are actitivities which they chose the week before and this is from 6 to 7pm then we do our own extra activities which vary from Youth Club, walk, football down the field or gym, trip to the local shop or into Cirencester.

On Thursday we have a group evening and it is decided in the first week of term what they would like to do i.e.:
Week 1. River walk.
Week 2. Lydiard Park.
Week 3. Trip to the cinema
Week 4. Trip to Oasis
Week 5 BBQ and swim
Week 6. Trip to Weston
Week 7. Nibble night – (dvd and nibbles)

We try to keep the area fun and homely for the boys, and try and give them a mother/father figure to look up to, giving them a safe environment to develop and understand boundaries.
