PROSPECTUS - Home & School

We believe that regular communication with parents is vital to the child’s success. We always try to be available to talk to children and parents, to make them our priority. We have an open door policy in addition to more formal discussions. Annually, we hold a review of your child’s statement. A meeting is held in the school, with all the appropriate professionals, to discuss the academic report and other areas of progress. At this meeting, targets, both social and academic, are agreed for the coming year.

We keep in touch through our website www.colnhouse.gloucs.sch.uk . Our Care staff are always on hand if there are any concerns whatsoever. One area of the job is to view the school from the perspective of our clients, the children and their families. Childcare staff telephone occasionally with positive news to balance those occasions where there are difficulties or problems. Contact with parents is briefly noted in the weekly home books, a vital source of information.

Parents and children can talk to any member of staff at any time about any worry, anxiety or issue. Parents who have a complaint about any issue can approach the Head teacher or the Chair of Governors. They may wish to approach the governing body or the appropriate sub-committee. They can formally approach an officer in the education authority.
